Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the main treatments in traditional Chinese medicine. It involves the use of sharp, thin needles that are inserted in your body at very specific points. This process is believed to adjust and alter the body’s energy flow into healthier patterns, and is used to treat a wide variety of illnesses and health conditions.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends acupuncture as an effective treatment for over forty medical problems, including allergies, respiratory conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, gynaecological problems, nervous conditions, and disorders of the eyes, nose and throat, and childhood illnesses, among others.

Acupuncture has been used in  treatment for alcoholism and substance abuse. It is an effective and low-cost treatment for headaches and chronic pain, associated with problems like back injuries and arthritis.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic is from Greek words meaning done by hand. Doctors of Chiropractic are concerned with how the body's nerves, muscles and joints function as a whole.

We focus on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the body. We are specialists in using manipulations of joints to improve range of motion, flexibility, and to restore proper function.

Chiropractic is one of the most popular alternative therapies currently available.

Some would say it now qualifies as mainstream treatment as opposed to complementary medicine.

Chiropractic treatment is covered by many insurance plans. It has become well-accepted treatment for acute pain and problems of the spine, including low back pain and whiplash. Source: Gale Encyclopaedia of Medicine.

Physiotherapy

We will also provide physiotherapy treatment when needed, which is defined as: the treatment of disorders with physical agents and methods, such as massage, manipulation, therapeutic exercises, cold, heat (including shortwave and microwave diathermy and ultrasonic heat), hydrotherapy, electrical stimulation, and light to assist in habilitating or rehabilitating patients and in restoring function after an illness or injury.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage therapy helps alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with every day and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.

If employed early enough after accidents involving trauma and injury, massage therapy can greatly reduce the development of painful muscular patterning.

Our Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is fully trained to help your relief from:

  • Inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and tendonitis
  • Stress relief and associated conditions
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Muscle and related conditions such as spasms, strains and sprains
  • Sports Injuries
  • Back pain
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Circulatory and respiratory problems
  • Pregnancy and labour discomfort
  • Post-injury and post-surgical rehabilitation
  • And many other conditions...

Orthotics

Device that is used to alter or modify foot functions is called orthotics. Orthotics is for individuals who need treatment to adjust and support various foot disorders.

The most effective orthotic is custom made devices which are made according to the needs of the individual which is made using an impression of the foot called a cast.

The technician then uses the cast to design a cast that corrects any misalignments. The finished orthotic is placed in the patients shoes to provide the foot with support.

Sports Medicine

Sport medicine also known as sport and exercise medicine. The focus of sports medicine is to help individuals improve their athletic performance, recover from injury, and prevent future injuries.

All types of individuals are open to this, not just athletes. However, the main focus of sport medicine is to deal with physical fitness and prevent injuries related to sports and exercise.

Psychology Counseling

The focus of psychological counseling is on emotional, social, vocational, education, health related, developmental, and organizational concerns.

Counselors integrate theory, research, and practice to help improve their well being, alleviate stress, resolve crisis, and increase their ability to living a high functioning life.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a profession is dedicated to helping individuals and families to live their life to its fullest.

A "full" life means engagement in activities a person wants to do, no matter what injury, illness, disability, lifestyle or environment stands in the way.

The goal of occupational therapists is to assist individuals to perform, modify, or adapt to skills so they can live life to its fullest.

WSIB Rehabilitation Program

The WSIB ensure safe and suitable employment for insured workers. Injured workers are provided with a sound assessment, high quality credible training that will equip them for return to work, timely access to comprehensive assessment, outcome based rehabilitation, and claim services for their injuries.

Employers must report a work-related accident to WSIB if they learn that the worker required health care.

Chronic Pain Management

Chronic pain can be defined as pain that lasts longer than six months. Chronic Pain can be mild or excruciating, episodes, or continuous. Signals of pain are active in the nervous system for months or even years which can affect an individual emotionally and physically. The symptoms of chronic pain include:

  • Mild to severe pain that does not go away
  • Pain that may be described as shooting, burning, aching, or electrical
  • Feeling of discomfort, soreness, tightness, or stiffness

Chronic pain is a matter of biology; nerve impulses keep telling an individual about tissue damage that no longer exists which is where psychological factors play a role. However, there are various treatment options to cure chronic pain.

MVA Rehabilitation Program

Dealing with the physical effects of a motor vehicle accident can be a challenging process, but the right support at the right time can ensure a better health outcome. Services include; chiropractic, physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, physical therapy modalities and rehabilitation exercises.

The goals of these therapies are to first to determine the extent of your Motor Vehicle Accident injuries, relieve your pain, and then restore function so you can get back to your pre-injury status.

Whether the injury involves whiplash, muscle pain, neurological symptoms, other musculoskeletal injuries, or loss of function, we can help. After you get into an accident, contact your auto insurance provider to file the report and get the claim started.

At this point, your assessment can begin.

Work Conditioning

Work conditioning is work related, intensive, goal-oriented treatment program specifically designed to restore an individual's systemic, neuromusculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary functions.

The objective of the work conditioning program is to restore the injured individual physical abilities. Conditioning most often performed by physical therapy and occupational therapy takes place five times a week.

The objective is to prepare the injured individual to return to work, job search, or job retraining by providing intensive, active, and rehabilitation programs.

Rehabilitation interventions emphasize a functional Return to Work philosophy which provide a faster recover y and prevent injured workers from becoming unemployed.
