CARGO INSURANCE
Cargo insurance is an insurance policy taken up to protect against loss of or damage to your goods while they are being transported.
The policy is meant to indemnify you if there is any loss or damage to your cargo.
Cargo insurance would cover the goods while they are being transported over sea, air and land (includes parcel post and carryings by courier service).
Although the term “marine cargo insurance” is sometimes used, it actually includes cover for the land transit commencing from the moment the goods leave the storage until they arrive at the final warehouse.
About
Joginder Singh Ahluwalia is the President and CEO of Walia Insurance Agencies Ltd.
After serving 10 years in the Navy for his native country, he came to Canada from India in 1970.
He began working as an elementary school teacher on Vancouver Island. At this time, he served as the elected President of the Substitute Teachers’ Association.
In 1972, Joginder began his career in the insurance industry as a Life Insurance salesperson and he won numerous awards for his outstanding performance.
Later in 1972, he obtained a general insurance licence and worked as the Manager of a large insurance agency which dealt with numerous major insurance companies.
During this time, he arranged the insurance for vehicles, businesses, houses, malls, and even airplanes.
In 1981, Joginder opened the first of three locations of Walia Insurance Agencies Ltd., with the help of his wife Maninder, who is the Operations Manager.
Walia Insurance Agencies Ltd. now employs more than 14 members of staff.
Joginder is also being assisted by his two sons Jagdeep Singh and Sandeep Singh (Sonny) who both take an active role in the business.
Joginder is active in many community organizations through his involvement with Surrey/Delta Immigration Services Society, The Lions Club, Soccer Associations, Insurance Advisory Committees as well as serving as an aide for the Provincial Government.
With the grace of God, Joginder is now one of the most prominent and most experienced advisors in the insurance industry throughout the entire Lower Mainland.
