Your search for a competent tutor ends here!

Here's my LinkedIn profile, feel free to take a look: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shubham-malik-b56aab147/

I recently graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BSc in Biochemistry & Biotechnology, and I'm currently working as a Process Technical Writer in the GTA. I have 5+ years of experience tutoring all levels of Math and Science, up until the 3rd year of uni (be it long division or Calculus). I've tutored students aged 6 - 20, in the Ontario curriculum, British A-Levels (AQA, Edexcel) and IB programs. I have also tutored students for entrance exams and the SAT. I've been educated in the Canadian, British and Indian school system and I understand first-hand the struggles students face. I know how difficult it can be to address things with teachers (whose time and attention is divide among so many students in a classroom) or even ask a question in class. I maintain that NO question is useless. In fact, the more questions you have, the better. It means you're thinking about the material critically!

I help my students get into their first choice of university by focusing on required grades, extracurriculars and impactful projects. I offer custom plans of action and consultations with regard to the same.

This is how I make sure you get the grades you want:

1. I make you take a short, timed test. This helps me understand how your basics are, what your current understanding is, and what your learning style(s) are. This will help me teach you in the way that YOU learn!

2. As soon as we finish a topic, I give you homework questions that target all areas of what we just learnt. This will tell me how comfortable you are with the topic. If something seems iffy, no worries, we'll just hone into that and make sure you're good.

3. As soon as we finish with a chapter/segment, I'll give you both a timed in-person and a take-home test. Then we focus on the questions you didn't get right. I'm also very big on note-taking and keeping binders!

4. My classes generally follow a discussion-based, collaborative format. We work together when handling a topic. This encourages independent thought and increases your confidence, especially in test situations where I won't be there to help you.

I offer both in-person (at home or in a public place, such as the Library) and online classes (Skype, using a digital whiteboard). I'm fully vaccinated (Moderna. Vaccine certificate available) and follow all safety precautions diligently. I'll be masked throughout the study session. For in-person classes, I require you to follow safety guidelines as well.
