According to the legend it is believed that Pandawas established the temple by Adi Shankracharya was found this temple in 9th century. In the Alaknanda River a Black Shaligram idol was found in the Alaknanda River by the Adi Shankracharya. This is the place where Lord Badri was meditated and his wife Goddess Lakshmi protected him from cold and heat to convert herself into a berry tree. The other 15 idols are also made of Black marble which is situated inside the temple complex. The idol of Lord Vishnu which was found in the Alaknanda River is in the meditation posture and flanked by the Nar and Narayan. Yog Dhyan Badri Temple, Mana Village, Tapt Kund, Charan Paduka, Mata Murti Temple, Narad Kund, Bheem Pul, Ganesh Cave etc are the other major attraction of the place.
