With great hopes and dreams of raising a family together, my wife and I came to Canada as newlyweds in 1972.
I drove a taxi, she cleaned hotels, I worked at a sawmill and she worked at a hospital. We spent our spare time learning English and enjoying sights, such as 5 feet of Fort St. John snow, that we had never seen before.
My love and attachment to Canada grew along with my family. However, never a day went by that I didn’t enjoy a taste of India through my love of Indian food.
Whether it was a thermos full of steaming chai tea at work, or the aroma of a fresh curry at home, I would always enjoy the wonderful tapestry of spices and flavors in Indian food.
I could have never predicted that many years later my dreams would be further realized through opening a restaurant.
It was an opportunity to do what I really loved to do, which was enjoy moments with family, friends, or just taking a break, with a great tasting meal made with fresh quality ingredients.
I started off by making great pizza, a food that I loved since I arrived in Canada.
We put a lot of work and love into becoming the neighborhood pizza joint with Pizza Factory Metrotown.
Then we dreamed even bigger and opened Saffron Indian Cuisine, serving authentic Indian dishes we all loved for so very many years.
Saffron Indian Cuisine has been voted Burnaby’s best Indian Restaurant 9 years in a row.
We thank all our wonderful customers for supporting our family owned and operated restaurant. Serving great quality, great tasting authentic Indian food will continue to be our priority.
