Training and Experience
Raj is a professional, knowledgeable, skilled Bespoke tailor. In 1980, Raj commenced his apprenticeship in this vocation for 3 years at Singh’s Sartorial Elegance in Trinidad.
Ninety percent of Bespoke tailoring is done by hand thus, in his apprenticeship Raj practised drafting, pant-making, and the correct usage of needlework.
Thereafter, to master the skills of tailored coats and jackets, he relocated to Evan’s Bespoke World for five years. In both these establishments, the head tailors were trained on Savile Row, London.
Raj, to advance his tailoring expertise in Canada, first affiliated himself with the establishment of Joe Celeste and then the Tenuta Group Clothiers.
At the latter, he applied and also perfected his skills and expertise for six years in the coat department.
He advanced to become the production manager. Subsequently, Raj allied himself with Lou Myles Designs and worked for one year as a tailor in the coat department.
Upon completion of his year, he was invited back to Joe Celeste as production and quality control manager in the Bespoke department.
Raj, with the goal of producing the best hand-crafted garments in Canada, after three more years at Joe Celeste ventured into his own business.
His goal was to gratify a discerning group of customers who sought conspicuousness in any and all gatherings. Raj’s, meticulous one-on-one consultations with his clients produce the exclusive “Bespoke tailoring”.
His company was founded in 2000, gaining in reputation and growing steadily stronger. He is considered by many, one of the last “old-schooled” bespoke tailors in Canada.
