About
Dr. Shiv Sharma
Dr. Sharma graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University with particular interest in genetics and protein structures.
He went on to obtain a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) and completed clinical rotations through the Eye Center at SCO, the John- Kenyon American Eye Institute, and Novamed Eye Surgery Center.
These rotations through Cataract, Retina, and LASIK centers gave him the opportunity to provide care for pre-operative and post-operative patients.
Dr. Sharma’s areas of interest include pediatrics, ocular disease, and primary care.
He is passionate about providing cutting-edge eye care to his patients and is a strong proponent of educating patients about their vision and eye health so that they can be better informed and play a more active role in their care.
Volunteering and giving back to the community is very important to Dr. Sharma.
He has served as a volunteer Optometrist for the Special Olympics Opening Eyes Program; this program provides eye exams and glasses at no cost to special olympic athletes.
He has also participated in several community events promoting eye care and eye health including diabetes forums, health fairs, and public school screenings.
In his spare time Dr. Sharma enjoys recreational activities such as running, hockey, hiking, and kayaking.
He also enjoys spending time at home with his wife and young daughter going for walks and adventures by the beach in nearby White Rock, BC.
