Dental Implants

Preventative control of plaque and calculus will not only decrease the chances that you develop tooth decay, but it will also increase the chances that you will keep your teeth healthy for life.
Research has shown there is an association between oral disease and other health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and stroke, respiratory illness in older adults, as well as pre-term and low-birth-weight babies.
Although researchers are just beginning to understand this relationship, evidence shows that oral disease can aggravate other health problems and that keeping a healthy mouth is an important part of leading a healthy life.
Root Canal Treatment:
Root canal therapy has often been viewed as an uncomfortable procedure when in reality, that is not the case.
Root canal treatment can be performed comfortably and it allows you to keep a tooth that would otherwise have to be removed.
It is highly recommended to follow up with a crown after root canal treatment in order to protect the treated tooth from cracking or breaking in the future.
Tooth Extractions
Although our goal is to help you keep your teeth for a lifetime, sometimes the best or only possible treatment is extraction of a tooth.
In such a situation, our goal is to provide a safe and painless extraction.
Often, we will recommend a treatment to help preserve the bone in the area which makes it possible to place an implant in the future.

Dr. Nafeesa Sheikh has been a dentist for over 19 years.
She grew up in Guelph and after completing dental school, Dr. Sheikh decided to move back to be a dentist in Guelph.

Dr. Sheikh has been practicing dentistry for over 20 years
Dr. Sheikh was born in Montreal and raised here in Guelph since the age of 5.
She has chosen Guelph to raise her family and open her dental office.
After completing her highschool education at Centennial C.V.I., she ventured off to McMaster University for a degree in Honours Chemistry.
She then completed her degree in Dental Surgery at the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School.
She graduated dental school with honours. She received the Thurber scholarship for clinical excellence in Dentistry.
Dr. Sheikh then completed a General Practice Residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Here she gained experience in Hospital Dentistry, periodontics, dental implants and orthodontics.
Soon after returning to Guelph, Dr. Sheikh went into private practice in Cambridge, Brantford and Kitchener.
She has also worked part time at the Public Health Children's Dental Clinic in the Region of Waterloo.
Currently she maintains a private General Dentistry practice with a focus on Family and Implant Dentistry.
Her scope of practice includes cosmetic dentistry, surgical placement and restoration of dental implants.
She is trained and has successfully completed reconstructive full mouth therapies including the All-on-four dental implant bridge.
Dr. Sheikh volunteers in the Waterloo-Wellington area and with the Ontario Dental Association.She is a member of the:
