There comes a moment in everyone’s life when they begin to notice a quiet shift within themselves—a subtle warmth, a flicker of confidence, a sense of identity beginning to take shape. I call this “my glow.” It is not something that appears overnight, nor is it something that can be bought, borrowed, or imitated. My glow is deeply personal. It is built through experiences, shaped by challenges, and strengthened by self-discovery. It is the light that emerges when you begin to truly understand who you are and embrace it fully.

My glow did not begin as something visible. In fact, for a long time, it felt like the opposite. There were moments of doubt, comparison, and insecurity. I often found myself measuring my worth against others—how they looked, what they achieved, how confidently they carried themselves. In those moments, it felt like I was dim, almost invisible. But what I didn’t realize then was that glow is not about competing brightness; it is about authenticity. It is about discovering your own unique light and allowing it to shine without fear.

The journey toward my glow started with self-awareness. I began to pay attention to my thoughts—how I spoke to myself, how I reacted to situations, and how I viewed my own abilities. I realized that I was often my harshest critic. The voice in my head was quick to point out flaws and slow to acknowledge strengths. Changing that inner dialogue was not easy, but it was necessary. I started practicing self-compassion, reminding myself that growth takes time and that mistakes are not failures, but lessons.

As I became more aware of myself, I also began to let go of unrealistic expectations. Society often paints a picture of what success, beauty, and happiness should look like. For a long time, I tried to fit into that picture, even when it didn’t feel right. But my glow began to grow stronger when I stepped away from those expectations and started defining my own path. I realized that I didn’t need to look like anyone else or live like anyone else to be worthy. My journey was mine alone, and that was enough.

Another important part of my glow was learning to embrace my imperfections. For years, I saw my flaws as things to hide or fix. But over time, I began to see them differently. My imperfections tell a story—they reflect my experiences, my struggles, and my growth. They make me human. When I started accepting them instead of fighting them, I felt lighter. I no longer carried the burden of trying to be perfect. Instead, I allowed myself to be real.

Confidence played a key role in shaping my glow. But I learned that confidence is not about being the loudest person in the room or never feeling afraid. True confidence is quiet. It is the ability to believe in yourself even when things are uncertain. It is showing up, trying again, and trusting that you are capable. My confidence grew each time I stepped out of my comfort zone—whether it was speaking up, trying something new, or simply being honest about how I felt.
