My name is Amir, I am a 35 year old Guitar / Bass / Drum teacher. I am opening up positions for private students teaching out of my basement studio (Royal Oak, NW, Calgary). I live with my wife and our two baby boys.
I have been playing guitar for 18 years, and have been teaching for 5 years consistently. I specialize in helping the student find their own voice with the instrument, and inspiring them to enjoy the process of playing, and ultimately creating and bringing their vision to life.
I taught ages 8 to 14 at a professional music school until 3 months ago, but due to scheduling issues (second baby was born), I will now be teaching privately out of my basement studio (fully equipped with all the gear a student could ever need).
I can teach kids (where communication and compatibility/adaptability skills come in more handy than guitar skills) all the way to adults who are performing on stage or in studios professionally.
Beginner Techniques: Learning chords, scales/notes, playing along to favourite songs, getting a nice sound of the guitar, learning the basics about tones, HAVING FUN.
Intermediate Techniques: Playing a song beginning to end, Teaching you how to write your own songs, Mixing and matching beginner techniques smoothly.
Advanced Techniques: Soloing, Alternate Picking, Tapping, Legato, Sweep Picking, Shredding, Pinch Harmonics, Slapping, Popping, Thumping, Finger Picking, Advanced Chord voicings, SHREDDING, etc.
Different Genres such as Blues, Rock, Funk, Metal (including numerous sub-genres), Acoustic, Jazz, Latin, Middle-Eastern, World, and more.
I can also teach you how to write, produce / record, mix and master your own songs.
In my basement studio I have several guitar rigs, and several guitars to choose from, in addition to full recording capabilities. You can bring your own gear / guitar, or just simply show up and everything will already be available for you here ready to go, professional level gear.
Lessons are $60 per hour. Currently have space for 4 more students.
