Your First Visit
At Smile Elements, we love meeting new patients! At your first visit, our team will get to know you and review your orthodontic concerns and treatment goals.
Our doctors will complete a comprehensive evaluation of your teeth and bite and make any recommendations for treatment.
Your initial visit is a great time to ask any questions that you may have regarding your orthodontic treatment options. It is our goal to provide you with all the information you need to gain a better understanding of your diagnosis and treatment options.
After you meet with our doctors, our office manager will review your recommendations in detail and provide you with information regarding treatment timing, scheduling appointments, fees, and financial arrangements.
Financial factors should never be an obstacle to orthodontic treatment. We offer flexible financing options that will fit every budget.
Clear Aligners
As experienced clear aligner providers, we can correct almost any orthodontic case using Invisalign. The Invisalign system uses a series of custom-made clear aligners to straighten your teeth and correct your bite.
The beauty of aligners is that it’s practically invisible! Invisalign aligners are removed when eating and brushing, giving you flexibility to eat all the foods you enjoy! At our office, we use a 3D digital scanner, avoiding the need for any messy molds.
We are confident that clear aligners will provide a comfortable experience while delivering exceptional clinical outcomes.
Braces
At Smile Elements, we use self-ligating braces. Advantages of self-ligating systems include:
- Improved hygiene
- No unnecessary tooth extractions
- Lighter forces
- Faster appointments
- Improved Comfort
We offer a variety of options for braces, including clear and metal braces, making the experience more comfortable and convenient.
Early Treatment
The Canadian and American Association of Orthodontists recommend that all children receive an orthodontic examination by 7 years of age.
Although orthodontic treatment may not be required, certain growth abnormalities can be detected at this age.
Early intervention can improve growth patterns and avoid complex treatment in the future.
Some signs that early orthodontic treatment may be required are:
- To influence jaw growth in a favourable manner
- Preserve or gain space for permanent teeth
- Improve tooth eruption patterns
- Early or late loss of primary teeth
- Thumb sucking or other oral habits
- Cross-bites
- Improve speech problems
If no treatment is required, your child will be enrolled in our Growth and Guidance program.
We will follow your child’s dental development every six months, at no fee, to ensure that everything is right on track!
Adolescent Treatment
The ideal time to start orthodontic treatment is during the adolescent years, between the ages of 11-14.
At this time, most of the adult teeth have erupted and children are experiencing a growth spurt.
These growth spurts assist in correcting the bite and making treatment outcomes more predictable.
We have a number of treatment options available for our adolescent patients including self-ligating braces, clear braces, and Invisalign.
Adult Treatment
More and more adults are seeking orthodontic treatment to improve their smile.
At Smile Elements, approximately 30% of our patients are adults! We have a number of treatment options available including Invisalign, self-ligating braces, and clear braces which makes the process easier and more efficient.
Benefits of orthodontic treatment as an adult include:
- Access for improved oral hygiene
- Eliminating uneven wear
- Improved function and health of teeth
- Develop space for future implants, bridges
- Improve sleep apnea symptoms
Retainers
Once you are completed with braces or aligner therapy, it’s important to protect your investment!
At the end of your treatment, we will provide you with retainers to maintain your teeth and bite. It is important to wear your retainer as instructed by your doctor.
We will also schedule a number of follow-up visits after removing all orthodontic appliances to ensure that your teeth and bite are stable.
