Dr. Naveen Arya specializes in gastroenterology. A graduate of the University of Toronto (B. Sc, Human Biology) Dr. Arya completed his medical degree at the University of Western Ontario (UWO).
After graduating from UWO, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at University Hospital in London, Ontario, where he was Chief Medical Resident in 2001.
He received further training in Gastroenterology at the University of Toronto after which he completed two fellowships - one in Therapeutic Endoscopy (advanced endoscopic training) at St Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, the other in Endoscopic Ultrasound in Marseille, France. He subsequently has a special interest in endoscopic ultrasound.
Colon cancer is the second most common cause of cancer deaths in North America and Ontario has one of the highest colon cancer rates in the world.
One in 17 Ontarians will get colon cancer in the absence of regular screening. Colonoscopy is the 'Gold Standard' of screening methods. However, timely monitoring for colon cancer in Ontario is difficult due long wait times for obtaining colonoscopy at hospitals (often up to a year or more).
The Oakville Endoscopy Centre makes a colonoscopy available to individuals within 6 months.  Since early detection is the prime determinant of whether colon cancer will be cured, timely access to colon cancer screening is VERY IMPORTANT.
The Oakville Endoscopy Centre is a very vital part of the network of colon cancer detection services available in the region. Its services and equipment are at as advanced as any available in the region.
They are provided and overseen by highly trained physicians with full access to hospital facilities when patients require more complicated procedures.
The Oakville Endoscopy Centre is staffed by a team of highly trained specialist.  
All of our physicians are fully certified Gastroenterologists and have advanced training used to detect and diagnose colon cancer.
 In addition to their work at the Centre, they practice at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
